If you're experiencing any problems with joining the classic server, here are some steps you can take to figure out what might be going on.

Most Common Issues:

1. Your "allow asset mismatch" box is unchecked. Go to Starbound settings and check the box.
2. There are client-side mods installed. Look over your list of mods that you have installed and make sure they're compatible with the server.
3. You have broken custom items. If this is the case, try storing them away in single-player then joining the server. If this does not work, you can either try fixing the item or consulting to issue #2 listed above.
4. You have a cracked or illicit copy of the game. We can not assist you if you have a pirated version.

Uncommon Issues:
If any of these listed below prevents you from joining, you will have to ask one of us for assistance.

1. The server is down.
2. If your username in Starbound is already taken.
3. After leaving, you can not join back to the server.

If you have any other issues, join the Discord server and let us know! Hope this helps!

Would also like to make note that there are rare instances of players being stuck in a corrupted chunk of a planet; this causes an infinite loop of logging in only to be kicked immediately. If this ever happens let us know right away and we'll be able to fix your position as well as investigate the corrupted area.

Like I said, it's very rare and most likely will not happen to you. This is just on the off chance that if it ever does happen, you'll know that we can take care of it for you.

It's also very important to understand how to check your local client logs for any particular reason. If you're unable to join or are kicked or even experience your entire client crashing (memory allocation errors do happen!) you will want to check your logs. You should get familiar with this file location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\storage\starbound.log
